Rubber Ducky – tonight’s race is cancelled

December 4, 2012

Hi all

Due to the strong winds and rain that is starting we have decided that tonight’s rubber ducky race will be cancelled.

Next week will be the final race of the series and will be concluded with a BBQ after racing.  More details on this to come.

Cheers

Rubber Duck Race 9

November 27, 2012

With the northerly about, we will be at Greta Point/Hataitai Beach for the start of tonight’s race.

6pm registrations and 6.30pm race start.

We have had some superb racing over the past few weeks and with the multiple laps we have been running it has been great to see the action getting closer and closer each lap.  I am sure tonight will be no different.

Good luck

Rubber Ducky Race 8

November 20, 2012

Don’t forget that we have another night of rubber ducky racing action on tonight.  Whist the weather doesn’t 100% know what it is doing, it is looking as though the southerly (or SE by the looks) is going to hang about so we will be back to Oriental Parade.

We have had some close racing over the past few weeks and there seems to be some great speed gains being experienced by all.

6pm registration, 6.30pm first starters depart.

See you all there.

Rubber Ducky – Race 7 – Tuesday 13th November

November 13, 2012

With the southerly set to stay it will be back to Oriental Parade for tonights racing.  6pm registrations and 6.30pm race start.

We had some close racing last week which is showing the handicaps are alomst there, so I am sure this week will be no different again.

Also, if anyone is able to paddle with Neelu in a double tonight (or at any stage) please can you call her on 0273087478.  She has just moved to Wellington and is blind so needs to paddle with others in a double kayak.  She has paddled before and did this years Coast to Coast.

Happy racing tonight all!

Curtis Imrie Selected to Compete at the Australian Youth Olympics Festival

November 8, 2012

Fantastic news for Curtis for being selected to represent NZ at the Australian Youth Olympics Festival to be held in Jan 2013. This is a fantastic opportunity for Curtis as it will give him an insight into what it like to be part of wider sporting team at a major international sporting event and to compete against some of the best kayaking nations in the world.

Curtis has performed extremely well over the last year and his recent performances at Blue Lake 1 confirmed his selection into the team by being ranked in the top 3 for the u19 age group.

Well done Curtis we’re really excited for you.

Rubber Ducky – Race 6

November 8, 2012

Tuesday 6th November 2012

A combination of that cold south easterly and Melbourne Cup saw a smaller field compete for the yellow duck honours this week. The race was at Oriental Bay and in near perfect water conditions a course of four laps was set for the 20 paddlers.  As a result, it was great to see everyone stay in their kayaks this week too!

John Pritchard lead almost from start to finish this week and crossed the line clear of Colin Crampton a little over 30 seconds clear with Brian Grace a further 10 seconds back.  In the women Mary McBride is the ducky winner this week from Fiona Dowling.

As with this week there will be some small adjustments for handicaps especially John and Colin but also the handicapper was pretty severe last week on Tim Sutton so he needs a little relief from 9min30secs he dealt with on Tuesday.  In saying that 90% of the field was separated by 2 minutes so we will get it so that everyone is rolling to the line together.

Results below and we look forward to seeing you all again next Tuesday.
