The first of our Kayak Duathlons is on this Sunday, 22nd September. This type of racing is heaps of fun and we have a great course lined up for this weekend.
- Entry Fee = $5.00 (click here to complete entry form)
- Race briefing – 8.30am
- Race start – 9am
- Open men and woman
- Junior U18 & U16 & U14
- K4’s available for juniors – so make a team up and take on the seniors.
Kayak – Distance approx. 6km
Starting at Te Pene Ave, kaykers will paddle North past the club rooms, past the end of the boat sheds and head north to the turn around at the tire (before entering the channel) before heading back south to the kayak to run transition at the club rooms.
To level the playing field somewhat, Juniors will start at the jetty by the club rooms and go directly up to the tyre and back (effectively Juniors will have a small head start over the open paddlers)
Run – Distance approx. 8km
After a speedy transition runners will follow the track around the Whiteria Park – running up and over the hill towards the golf club (there will be markings here) and then down to the carpark on the north coast. From here its a right turn around the shoreline (the water will be on your left hand side as you run south) back to the clubrooms for a well earned drink.
There will also be a shortened run course option which turns at the little inlet before the poles and turn 180deg to right and run back down the shoreline to clubrooms (approx. 2km distance run).
